Mountain's Majesty

Another Set of House Plans Nears Completion

This is an amazing house. Walls are ICFs, the roof SIPs, plus some timber frame features. This is a rendering from ArchiCAD using the Tech Pen Render which gives it a hand drawn look. Been working on it off and on since last year.

Architectural Visualization 2

Got a photo of the garage door today. In Paint Shop I cropped it down, took the distortions out and placed it on a layer over that of the house. Warped it this way and that to make it fit with the perspective of the rendering. Added matching shadows and sunlit areas. Pretty convincing effect.

This is what it looked like after being rendered in ArchiCAD.

Architectural Visualization

A builder emailed his floor plan and a sketch. I built the model in ArchiCAD and rendered it there, too. Then in Paint Shop I added the trees, bushes, flowers, lawn and gravel. Also adjusted values a bit.

Current Project...Custom House

This has been taking up all my time for the past four, five days. I think it's the most complicated house I've ever designed. The client came with a set of drawings he liked, but needed a few changes. Many jogs in the wall. A great variety of roof. ICFs 17" wide with SIPs for the roof. Will be an awesome house.

Old News...

I stumbled upon this old photo on the Kaman website. I have six hundred hours in this crate. Not technically a helicopter, it's actually a syncropter because the twin rotors mesh as they turn. If you'd like to read about my rescue missions see About the Artist page and scroll down to the bottom. From the early seventies. Before this while in training I took a painting class and tried to make a painting of it, it was pretty bad. But I remember a lady in the class who painted with a palette knife and should have been teaching the class she was that good.
