Sunday, April 29, 2007 Pack River
Sunday paint out for Loi and me. First we eat breakfast...today it was JJ's just past Naples. Then we headed for the Pack River at Samuel's. Two fishermen there talking and smoking, plus the highway noise. Loi suggested the bridge over the Pack River on Colburn-Culver Road a few miles north of 200. About ten minutes and pickup left so we could move to a primo spot for plein air. Not long after that I realized all my panels were setting on the table at home. Loi gave me a sheet of watercolor paper which saved the day! Was using the new umbrella til the gale force winds came through. Always an adventure. POSTED BY ROBERT

"Nice, good subject and color." DK Friday, April 27, 2007 Yard Tree
Here's the same tree last summer and in oils...
Plein air in the backyard. Testing my new setup. I've thinned down my acrylic paint, put it in little plastic cups with water tight lids to prevent it drying out doors. Also, moved the handle of the box to the lid. Now it is carried in the horizontal position instead of vertical like a briefcase...so the paint won't get on the lids every time. POSTED BY ROBERT

A nice early spring day...three of us ventured outside for a little plein air. On the cool side and a bit windy. Maybe a half an hour outside and another half an hour inside with the photo for reference. POSTED BY ROBERT

Last Saturday I was in Sandpoint looking for interesting views of the town when from the bridge to the public beach I noticed this. It reminded me of Venice a little. POSTED BY ROBERT

First in a series of three for an upcoming group show. It's painted on watercolor paper with Golden Fluid acrylics using watery paint in a wash technique without regard for subject matter. After letting it dry a rough drawing was made with black paint. More washes were added and light areas were established with gesso and darker accents, too. This view will soon be obscured by a new four lane bypass. POSTED BY ROBERT

At night on the beach the toads come out in Costa Rica. I saw one sitting on the edge of the swimming pool for a long time thinking what I have no idea. Eventually he turned and hopped away. They're pretty large, maybe the size of a baseball. POSTED BY ROBERT

Painted on location in Costa Rica. A typical farming scene in the rural mountains. The slopes are fairly step, but they don't use terracing. POSTED BY ROBERT
