Mountain Lake
Tulip Bed Yellowstone Art Museum The paintings must be

February, but the letter doesn't actually say that. Light and Shadow POAC EXHIBIT Opening I'll be showing Woods Interior, seen below, and maybe another one. NEW! BLOG Almost two weeks ago I started making a painting a day and posting it on my new blog. Then Daily Painters Art Gallery picks up the latest image and displays it along with about a hundred others from all over the world. As you may know "blog" is short for "web log"...a kind of daily journal online. Not just for painters, but for anything you can imagine. The painting a day thing is become very popular as both artist and art buyers look for a way to connect with each other directly. You can sign up to be notified once a day when there is something new to see. Usually a painting with comments, but yesterday I posted a little sculpture. Hope you'll sign up...it's free, a service of FeedBlitz.

NEW! EBAY I've started listing paintings on eBay again. Had some success with that about a year and a half back. The auction format is exciting and you can get some bargains. Look for a link to the eBay auctions on my blog. If they don't sell on eBay they will still be available at a good price on the blog. Or I may matt and frame and put them in a show or a gallery.

Hot Off the Easel
Inspired by the woods along the road in Glacier National Park. There was a sign beside the trail that said you could be killed by a bear and if that happened it's your own fault. Started late last night and this is where I stopped. Globs of red, orange and yellow were mixed and spread around with a spatula, the panel flat on a table. Added blues and blacks. The spatula was then used to squeegee out tree trunks and branches from the wet paint.. Spots of paint were added with a painting knife. Pretty close to finger painting. This afternoon glazes were applied to the trunks and the spaces between. More color spots were added with the palette knife.
A powerful painting...imaginative colors

Woods Interior RERUN FROM LAST MONTH
An exciting email arrived October 1st:...
"We would like to
invite you to exhibit your artwork in the next edition of the Florence
Biennale. After reviewing your artwork present in internet, the Internal
Committee has expressed favourable opinion for your participation. The
sixth edition of the Biennale will be held from 1 to 9 December 2007. The exhibition doesn’t receive any public neither private financial assistance. The exhibition is entirely funded by artists, that can search for sponsors independently in their own country. To those possible sponsors indicated by artists, Arte Studio will provide to send a formal request. Sponsors will be published both in the general catalogue and the website, as you can see by visiting the sponsor’s page present in our website, that helped some artists in the past biennales."
Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea
This art expo is held every two years. In December of 2005 artists from 74 nations found a common language in art. In 2001, the United Nations recognized the Florence Biennale as an official partner in the program "Dialogue Among Nations". In the words of Kofi Annan (President of the United Nations): “Artists have a special role to play in the global struggle for peace. At their best, artists speak not only to people; they speak for them. Art is a weapon against ignorance and hatred and an agent of public awareness… Art opens new doors for learning, understanding, and peace among people and nations.”
The sixth edition of the Biennale of Contemporary Art will take place at the historic location of the Fortezza da Basso from 1-9 December 2007. The 2005 edition, closed with a large public attendance and a happy presence of 768 artists worldwide. Christo and his wife,Jeanne-Claude, and Richard Anuskiewicz, an American, who were awarded with the maximum recognition, the Lorenzo il Magnifico award for the career, were protagonists of unforgettable days, with conferences that attracted an impressive number of enthusiasts, artists and visitors.
Opening ceremony, 2005 "Many artists assume there is funding available for participating in the Florence Biennial. It is important to clarify that specific funding for exhibition costs, including participation fees, insurance, shipping, or travel, does not really exist in the Untied States, with a few minor exceptions" writes Melissa Potter, Program Officer NYFA Source. "A majority of Florence Biennale artists succeed in finding full or partial sponsorships for their participation. Several countries pay the shares for up to 25 artists." says John Spike, Director of Florence Biennale. U.S. invitees realize that funding will not come from the U. S. government. " I believe that the American people are generous and that they value the arts. Many people complain about the cuts for art programs in schools and in their community. It's time to change the system and present people with new ways to support the arts and artists." states a recent U.S. participant.
If you would like to be a sponsor at any level The participation fee alone is $3,000. Add to that travel, insurance, shipping, hotels, meals, etc. Sponsors at the the $100 level or more will receive in appreciation a signed Giclee fine art print, special Florence Biennale limited edition 300, of "Blue Gondolas" about 6x8" ready for matting and framing. Other consideration can be arranged for major sponsors.
