Sponsors will be published both in the general catalogue and the website, as you can see by visiting the sponsor’s page present in our website, that helped some artists in the past biennales."
Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea
This art expo is held every two years. In December of 2005 artists from 74 nations found a common language in art. In 2001, the United Nations recognized the Florence Biennale as an official partner in the program "Dialogue Among Nations". In the words of Kofi Annan (President of the United Nations): “Artists have a special role to play in the global struggle for peace. At their best, artists speak not only to people; they speak for them. Art is a weapon against ignorance and hatred and an agent of public awareness… Art opens new doors for learning, understanding, and peace among people and nations.”
The sixth edition of the Biennale of Contemporary Art will take place at the historic location of the Fortezza da Basso from 1-9 December 2007. The 2005 edition, closed with a large public attendance and a happy presence of 768 artists worldwide. Christo and his wife,Jeanne-Claude, and Richard Anuskiewicz, an American, who were awarded with the maximum recognition, the Lorenzo il Magnifico award for the career, were protagonists of unforgettable days, with conferences that attracted an impressive number of enthusiasts, artists and visitors.
Opening ceremony, 2005 "Many artists assume there is funding available for participating in the Florence Biennial. It is important to clarify that specific funding for exhibition costs, including participation fees, insurance, shipping, or travel, does not really exist in the Untied States, with a few minor exceptions" writes Melissa Potter, Program Officer NYFA Source. "A majority of Florence Biennale artists succeed in finding full or partial sponsorships for their participation. Several countries pay the shares for up to 25 artists." says John Spike, Director of Florence Biennale. U.S. invitees realize that funding will not come from the U. S. government. " I believe that the American people are generous and that they value the arts. Many people complain about the cuts for art programs in schools and in their community. It's time to change the system and present people with new ways to support the arts and artists." states a recent U.S. participant.
If you would like to be a sponsor at any level The participation fee alone is $3,000. Add to that travel, insurance, shipping, hotels, meals, etc. Sponsors at the the $100 level or more will receive in appreciation a signed Giclee fine art print, special Florence Biennale limited edition 300, of "Blue Gondolas" about 6x8" ready for matting and framing. Other consideration can be arranged for major sponsors.

Hillside Birch,
Glacier Park From a weekend trip to Glacier National Park last month with Loi, Betty Billups and Kate Weisberg. Had a lot of fun and did a little painting. Not a bad time to visit the park. No crowds, lots of vacancies. Some people had noticed a bear on a steep mountain side up high. Lucky I remembered to take along the spotting scope.
Taken with a 3.2mp camera, 10x zoom, cropped way down and enlarged. Just a tiny brown spot with the naked eye. Most often I paint on location or from photographs, but here is another way that's a nice change. Start applying paint with a painting knife and no particular goal in mind except interesting colors and shapes. Before long you will see something. I was adding the greenish vertical strokes thinking "maybe this is grass", when one of the grass blades suddenly looked like a ship's mast. Another mast was added plus a few cross pieces and a bit more on the hull. Then some blue for the sky and it's done!
Sailing Ship You can read what other artists thought about this picture. Below are two more works-in-progress or "wip"...
