A new type of stretcher for large canvases:

This is an idea from an artist in the Sandpoint area. I changed the side pieces to 1/4" plywood to add depth and strength. 1x4s are mitered and joined with plywood rectangles, glued and stapled on both sides. Strips of plywood 2.5" wide are then glued and stapled. Finally, the braces are added about 6" o.c.  This one is 3'x3'. Should be able to go maybe 8'x10'.
