These sketches begin with an pen and ink drawing...fiber tip technical pen with waterproof, permanent ink. Then transparent watercolor is added selectively. The idea is to create as many light on dark and dark on light situations as possible. Seems to work best with a mixture of natural and man-made objects.

...and finally... Loi and I will be gone for about two weeks visiting friends and family in Oregon and California. Plus, we are both taking a watermedia workshop at the Mendocino Art Center. We'll be studying with Robert Burridge:
July 17 - 21, 2006 This highly energized painting workshop emphasizes creative experimentation using your favorite aquamedia materials. Burridge’s philosophical approach towards the act of painting inspires everyone to loosen up! There are numerous daily painting assignments, lots of personal attention, and painting critiques. This workshop is specifically for beginners who are afraid to get started and for professional painters who need to break out of their old style and loosen up. And staying at Bettilou's Inn overlooking the ocean.
Till next month... Bob
